Katherine William-Powlett

Exploring and supporting innovation in the not-for-profit world with NCVO

Katherine William-Powlett brings rich and varied experience to her role at NCVO. With a Psychology degree, she qualified as a Solicitor and practiced law for several years before taking up a role training solicitors in a range of legal skills and knowledge. During a subsequent career break she ran a local campaign, set up and ran a charity in partnership with the local aurthority providing green space for an urban community an entirely new way.  She has worked at NCVO since 2009 and built up an expertise in innovation during that time.  Katherine is studying for an MSc in Innovation, Creativity and Leadership part-time at City University and is a proactive school Governor.

Katherine’s particular expertise includes (but is not limited to):- 

  • innovation strategies and proceesses
  • innovation teams - see blog
  • helping organisations address challenges creatively and productively;
  • developing the skills and knowledge to find the right new ideas and get them off the ground;
  • advice on leading organisations for innovation;
  • facilitation of innovation events such as idea shops, challenge days;
  • design and development of social challenge prizes;
  • designing and running tailored workshops, innovation masterclasses and training
  • Facilitation with a particular interest in getting the most out of meetings.
