Alex Skailes

I run a consultancy advising charities on finance, business planning and strategy and am an associate consultant at Cass Business School’s Centre for Charity Effectiveness -

A large part of my career was spent with PricewaterhouseCoopers, leading and managing teams on a wide variety of financial and strategic assignments.  By combining my professional background together with my charity experience I strive to provide advice that is highly pragmatic, combining the charity sector’s objectives and culture with commercial and financial best practice.

I have a particular interest in mergers and collaborations and have worked with a number of charities to help them to explore the collaboration and merger options available.  I worked with Fairbridge to help them reach their successful merger agreement with The Prince’s Trust.  I am a trustee of Ipswich Community Voluntary Service and am working with Suffolk CVS organisations to facilitate more effective, collaborative working across the county.

As a member of one of the leading consultancy groups in the sector, Cass Centre for Charity Effectiveness, I am now working with colleagues to deliver our newly launched advisory service for non profits looking to collaborate or merge.

I am a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and have a MSc in Voluntary Sector Management from Cass Business School.

Alex Skailes is interested in non profit, non-executive director, mergers, collaboration, education, trustees, board of trustees, leadership, strategy, finance, finance strategy, impact, impact reporting, effectiveness, charity effectiveness, strategic analysis, strategic planning, strategy implementation, chief executive, cost reduction,
