leadership in campaigns

This new three day course is for leaders within the voluntary sector who are responsible for overseeing campaigns and advocacy. It will offer the opportunity for people to develop their leadership skills in a campaigning context. By bringing people together NCVO hopes to foster a culture of strategic campaigning in the sector, helping leaders to work together to achieve lasting impact.

Attendees This course is aimed at senior professionals overseeing campaigns who want to enhance leadership skills and develop a campaigning culture in their organisation. Participants may be involved in running campaigns themselves, or have overall responsibility for the direction of campaigns.

This course will be offered over three structured days at a central London location. Days one and two will be consecutive, and will include:

  • creating a campaigning culture
  • making a case internally and externally
  • identifying, prioritising and capitalising on trends
  • priority setting
  • peer learning
  • public opinion and behaviour change
  • governance and political diligence.

The group will reconvene in four groups on day three to:

  • share experiences, knowledge, challenges and solutions and begin longer term planning
  • access specific training support in identified areas of need (eg media training, digital media, leadership skills).

There is also an opportunity for learning from peers and experts and to expand professional networks.
