We’ve made our member-only resources free to everyone because of the current situation. We think it’s important people have the guidance they need to run their organisations during this time.

If you want to find out more about how you can volunteer to help deal with coronavirus, see our volunteering and coronavirus page.

If you are looking for advice on coronavirus and your charity, please see our dedicated coronavirus page.

NCVO Knowhow was originally developed by the Cass Centre for Charity Effectiveness with a grant from The Big Lottery Fund.

The site is now maintained by NCVO staff, with the help of volunteers (who contribute how-tos and case studies). We also commission authors to write and update content for the site.

We want the information on Knowhow to be used widely, so we’ve chosen to make it available under a Creative Commons licence – which is less restrictive than a traditional, ‘all rights reserved’ approach.

This means you can:

  • Use, adapt and re-publish content on this website however you like, as long as you a) credit the source (a link would be nice), and b) make anything you re-publish available on the same terms (that is, a share-alike licence that allows people to further re-use your work)

But you can’t:

  • Make commercial use of the content on this site. That means charging for it, or using it any other way that would give you a commercial advantage.

If you’re interested in making commercial use of anything on this site, you’ll need to contact us.
