How to get started with social media

There have been lots of guides written about the detail of using social media. Here we pull them all together.

Plan

The key to using social media is to think about your audience, resources, barriers and what you want to achieve. You need a strategy.

You also need to think about what channels are right for your audience. The CharityComms guide to social media for charities has an excellent guide to matching your audience to the appropriate channels.

Now you want to start using whichever channels you have chosen.

Further information

There are lots of guides which could be added here (for example on 4sq, evaluating success, using flickr). Please share ones which you have found helpful. If they don't exist why not write one.
