How to start a social enterprise by Sarah — last modified Jun 23, 2011 05:44 PM
I am considering setting up a social enterprise and would find a course on this topic very useful. There's so much information on the internet I wouldn't know where to start... A course that would give me some sense of direction and would tell me what to start with would be great! Thanks.Sarah
How to make volunteer roles appealing? by Donna — last modified Jul 06, 2011 11:07 AM
Hi, I am struggling to create some 'jobs' that volunteers can do in my organisation. I'm not sure how to make the roles interesting and motivating enough for volunteers to feel excited by the potential role. Especially since some of the tasks (but not all) they would be doing are not particularly exciting (admin, filing etc). I could use some advice/training on this issue.
How to do effective change management by member26671 — last modified Sep 16, 2011 12:34 PM

How to make videos by member26068 — last modified Jul 28, 2011 08:55 AM
I've just noticed your tweet about a prospective training course on making videos for your charity. I've been meaning to make that suggestion myself actually.:) So you've read my mind! In my organisation we are now dipping out toes into this area so would be quite keen to understand the principles around making videos and sharing them online. Looking forward to the course being published!
How to be innovative to ensure survival by Sarah — last modified Aug 10, 2011 04:13 PM
I read your how-to guide about How to innovate and I was wondering if you could deliver some more practical training on this? I have in mind particular situations where the charity is in danger of winding up and has to come up with some innovative approach that would ensure it survives. And also how do you cultivate that 'innovating' mentality in the staff?

How to get your charity's stories picked up by the media by Ramona — last modified Oct 17, 2011 07:25 PM
Hi, I work for a medium-sized charity based in the Middlands. We have a hard time getting coverage in the local media and being noticed by the national media seems a nearly impossible goal to achieve. I think many charities that are not London-based would benefit from some training on this issue. Given it's online they would be able to access it from anywhere. Thank you.
Creating a PR strategy and integrating it into the wider organisational strategy by Sarah — last modified Dec 20, 2011 04:32 PM
Our PR strategy sits on a shelf, the main reason being, I think, that it hasn't been conceived as being part of the wider strategy of the organisation (or integrated into it) and also that PR isn't seen as being of that much value to the organisation (certainly compared to fundraising, marketing etc). Some guidance on how to make a PR strategy that is owned and understood and supported by the rest of the staff (including the CEO, trustees etc) would be really useful. Thanks.
How to blog by Ramona — last modified Nov 21, 2012 01:03 PM
How about some training on getting started with blogging for your charity? I'd love to do that for my organisation but am too scared! Hoping to hear it's not that scary and get some practical pointers on how to do it regularly and of course on how to get as many people to read it as possible. Thanks.
How to start a charity / nonprofit by member26900 — last modified Mar 05, 2012 03:14 PM
I've got this great idea for starting a charity but don't really know where to start. I've read your guide and looked at the Charity Commission site but I could do with a friendly person holding my hand. I need to understand how to check if it's a good idea, as well as the legalities of different structures and fundraising as well as some tips for making it through the first year. Understand that this is a big subject but other people might find some pointers useful too?

How to win the SEO battle by member26068 — last modified Oct 29, 2012 02:54 PM
The only thing I know about SEO is what it stands for. Well, maybe another thing or two but basically this is foreign territory for my charity. It would be great if we could learn how to do Search Engine Optimisation properly on a budget (i.e. for free). So many charities are battling for the SEO limelight...How to do it successfully? Can you help? Thanks,H.

How to go through the hard times and come out the other side by Donna — last modified Jan 12, 2012 04:43 PM
I know this sounds a bit vague but I guess I could use some sort of high-level direction on how to steer my charity (I'm the CEO) through this challenging economic period. I'm doing a lot of fire-fighting at the moment, just trying to keep our head above surface, making sure we have money to provide our services from one month to the next. I hardly have any time to look at the big picture and think what am I missing and where could I improve things very simply? Are we still doing what we're meant to be doing? How can I help my team better and take them out of the panic zone? I know there are no quick fixes but even some helpful questions that I could ask myself and my team would help. Thanks.

How to re-invent yourself in the voluntary sector by member30993 — last modified Nov 16, 2011 03:46 PM
I've recently been made redundant and I am looking for a new job. I've been working for the same charity for the last 6 years. I could use some tips and advice on how to re-launch your voluntary sector career in what are some rather challenging times. I imagine others are in my situation too. Or perhaps there are people who want to get into this sector? I hope others find the suggestion relevant and vote for it so we can get the course. :) Thanks.
