About Studyzone

This page is free to all
NCVO's Studyzone is an e-learning service for individuals and organisations.

What is Studyzone?

Studyzone is an online hub of video e-learning courses for the voluntary sector. You can study at your own pace, anywhere, anytime. Studyzone is completely free to NCVO members and available by subscription or to buy.

Our courses

Studyzone courses are delivered by expert trainers, and cover topics including bid writing, volunteer management, governance, social media, digital strategy and risk assessment. If there’s a topic you want us to cover, simply tell us and we’ll consider it when we’re making new courses.

What it costs

Studyzone is free to NCVO members. If you’re part of an NCVO member organisation, simply sign in to access your free courses. If you have problems, see the troubleshooting section below. If you don’t belong to a member organisation, find out about the benefits of membership. Alternatively, you can subscribe to Studyzone from as little as £9.99 per month, or pay as you go to access individual courses.

You can pay by debit/credit card. We use SagePay to process payments.

What you get

If you buy a single course, it’s yours for ever, and you can watch it as many times as you like.

If you subscribe, either on your own or through your organisation, you can watch videos as often as you like while your subscription lasts.

If you’re an NCVO member, you can also watch videos as often as you want, for as long as your membership lasts.

Accessing and viewing courses

If you have made an individual purchase, log in with the username you used to make your purchase, and click on the course. You can also view all your purchases on your personal profile.

If you have a subscription, log in with the username you used to subscribe with, and click on any course that you want to watch.

Our courses can be watched from anywhere at any time and on any device, as long as you have an internet connection. You can, however, download the further resources that accompany each course and read them offline.

If you’re using mobile device, be careful of data charges if you’re away from Wi-Fi.

You can pause the training at any time by clicking on the ‘play’ button to pause the video and then ‘play’ again to resume when you’re ready. If you close your browser, the video will restart at the beginning.

If you have any problems accessing your courses, see the troubleshooting section below.

Cancelling your subscription

To cancel your subscription, log in to the Knowhow website using your email and password. Select the head icon at the top right of the page and click 'My content'

Click 'manage' underneath the active Studyzone subscription you wish to cancel and follow the instructions.

Once you cancel, you will still be able to watch all the courses until the date your subscription runs out. If you change your mind before this date, you can reactivate your subscription by logging in to the site and changing your subscription details via your personal profile.

Sharing Studyzone content

We’re happy for you to share our videos in internal training and presentations.
If you want other people to be able to complete a course themselves, we recommend either NCVO membership, which grants free Studyzone access for everyone, or an organisational subscription.

Contacting our trainers

If you'd like to contact the trainer to ask about consultancy services, you can find their e-mail addresses on the page of the training course.

Requesting new courses

Unfortunately we are no longer taking requests for new courses.

Face-to-face training

We offer a range of training courses delivered in-person and designed to help you do what you do best. They are provided from our offices in London or we can deliver at your choice of venue.

I belong to an organisation that has NCVO membership, but I can’t access my free courses. What do I do?

You’ll need to make sure your Knowhow account is linked to your organisation.
Go to the profile drop-down menu at the top right of the page, and open the ‘My organisations’ screen. Check that your organisation appears there. If not, click the button to add it.

If your organisation does appear in your profile, check if you’re listed as a member of that organisation, or if your application is pending. If it’s pending, the person at your organisation who manages the account will need to approve you. You can avoid this step by registering with an organisational email address. If you use your organisational email address (rather than, say, Hotmail or Gmail) we will automatically approve you.

I have problems accessing my subscription. What can I do?

Email us at, and we’ll be glad to help.

I am not happy with the training product I've received.

We sincerely hope this is not the case, but please contact us with any problems you may be having and we'll do everything we can to help.

I'm still having problems

If you’re still having problems, please contact us.
